Technology
    Reed roof is resistant to the most extreme environmental conditions. Reed is resistant to moisture and therefore is not saturated with water, does not soak through, and does not swell from moisture. As a result of the gravitational effects, rain and snow slide down the reed stalk down to the extending stalks and fall from the roof. Dampness does not penetrate the reed roof deeper than by 3 - 5 cm. As a result, the customer receives light steel-bonded roofing. One of the most important benefits of a reed roof is that it maintains the temperature warm in winter and cool in summer.
    The thermal conductivity of a properly installed reed roofing is equal to the thermal conductivity of a 10-cm thick insulation layer.
    One of the important characteristics of reed roofs is that they absorb the sound more efficiently than fiberglass.

    Reed stalks with the length from 1.3 to 2.2 m sorted by thickness of not more than 0.7 cm in diameter and tightly bound in sheaves. The sheaves are fixed to the roof with wires made of rust-proof galvanized steel, with the thickness of 1.2 - 5 mm. The reed roofing is 30 cm thick. The wooden frame of the roof must have lathing made of 5x5 cm beam, or paneled with OSB boards. The slope of the roof must be not less than 45 degrees. One square meter of roofing shall bear 8-10 sheaves, weighing at 5 - 7 kg each. If the relevant technologies are complied with (a 30-cm thick roof, stainless steel wires in the middle 15 cm deep) the roof is waterproof for more than 8 cm; therefore the wire is not corroded, which ensures a durability of such reed roofing. Reed does not lures various rodents and pests, as cane is not a favorable habitat for them. Reed roof can not be called more fire-hazardous than other roof types because it is thoroughly treated with flame retardants; also, there are flame retardants that, are specially designed to be used with reed. The durability of reed cover expands for more than 50 years, and at the expiration of the term, the reed cover can be restored. Reed is an environmentally friendly material, which retains heat in winter, and pure and cool air in the room in the wintertime.
    Reed is used in manufacturing of reed plates, which are used both for decorative application and for thermal insulation of buildings.
    The manufacturing process uses special equipment, which makes pressed reed plates and reed mats that are tied across the stems with galvanized wire.
    Reed plates: warm, non-toxic, water-resistant, easy-handling.
    Reed plates are used for thermal and acoustic insulation of walls, interior partitions, attic and floor construction, insulation of cultivated plants, beehives, as well as for decorating houses, interiors, and landscapes.
    Testing and certification: Ukrainian Research and Design Institute of Building Materials and Products NIISMI has provided technical testing and has introduced the technical specifications TU U V.2.7.-20.5-00294349.068.2001 for the first time.
    According to the physical and technical conditions reed plates meet the following requirements:
    thermal conductivity at (298+5)K or (25+5)C:
    - not more than 0.042 W/(m-K);
    - density, kg / cubic meter: 156;
    - humidity, pct by weight: 4;
    - moisture absorption, pct by volume: 18;
    According to the indicators of thermal conductivity two 5-6-cm thick reed plates replace cement laying of two and a half bricks and exceed other insulators in terms of humidity and moisture absorption.
